Best Sig MCX Upgrades & Accessories (Complete List)
These are the best Sig MCX upgrades for your rifle or pistol depending on what variation of this firearm you own.
I wanted to build the ultimate rifle to be used as my “Go-To” rifle that could be used for home defense or any situation.
There are a lot of Sig MCX upgrades available for this rifle because it is a very popular and interesting firearm that has been proven to be reliable and effective.
So what is a sig MCX?
The Sig MCX is very unique being a short-stroke push-rod gas system.
I was able to pick one of these up relatively soon after they were first released. The … is the version that I have and it is chambered in 5.56 nato.
It has a 16″ barrel and has the original side folding stock.
This model is no longer in production and the current version Sig is producing is the Sig MCX Virtus and the Sig MCX Rattler. The Virtus is the one that is most similar to mine.
What makes this rifle unique and different from a standard AR-15 is that it uses a single stroke gas piston recoil system to cycle the action. This gets rid of the need for a buffer system therefore you do not need a buttstock on this firearm in order for it to fire.
The Sig MCX also has a quick change barrel system that allows you to change calibers. This gives you lots of options.
Here is a list of all of the best sig MCX upgrades & accessories I added to the rifle and why they work great on this platform.
I also include the Sig MCX upgrades that I still need to add to mine.

Sig MCX Stock
The nice thing about this rifle is how many stock choices are available. There are also different arm braces available for this platform and you could turn yours into a pistol by adding a brace and a shorter barrel. (All NFA rules apply)
That is another great thing about the Sig MCX.
Sig MCX Skeleton Folding Stock
The original ones came with the thin stock and they are discontinued. Here is Sig’s newer version of the Sig MCX Skeleton Folding Stock.
These are actually hard to find nowadays and sell for double what they used to. It’s funny because people hated them when they first came out but now everyone wants one.
This skeleton folding stock is also referred to as the Kate Moss stock.
They are great when you are wearing a plate carrier or any type of body armor because it is very slim and does get in the way of anything. Also, nothing for it really snag or get held up on.
This stock folds down very flat up next to the receiver and looks pretty cool as well.

Sig MCX Telescoping/Folding Stock
The newer version and the one that comes on the Sig MCX Virtus is the Sig MCX Telescoping/Folding Stock.
This is more of a traditional AR-15 style adjustable stock and it also folds to the side as well.
I want to add this to my rifle because it is more comfortable to get a good cheek weld on the buttstock compared to the skeletonized one. It also seems that the original is increasing value and I want to hold on to it because it might be worth a lot of money in the future.
Sig has started making a Flat Dark Earth (FDE) version of the original recently.

Sig MCX Collapsible Stock
The Sig MCX Collapsible Stock is another option available. I don’t recommend using this on the rifle variant of this firearm because this one is more well suited for a Short Barrel Rifle (SBR).

Sig MCX Trigger
Probably one of the best and most noticeable Sig MCX upgrades would be adding a better trigger.
The Gen 2 Sig MCX will not accept a standard AR-15 style trigger and you have to get one that is made specifically for this rifle.
Luckily there are some really good triggers available for this rifle.
If you have one of the original Gen 1 models you can use any standard AR-15 trigger for the rifle.
Geissele Super MCX SSA Trigger
The Geissele Super MCX SSA trigger is by far one of the absolute best triggers you can install on your Sig MCX. This will work on any of the Sig MCX Virtus models also called the gen 2 models.
The Super MCX SSA is a 4.5lb, non-adjustable, two-stage trigger that provides the shooter with precise and accurate trigger control.
I have shot a lot of Geissele triggers in my ARs and they are amazing. This is one of the best Sig MCX upgrades you can do to your rifle and I highly recommend this trigger.

Sig MCX Optics
What optic you decide to go with will depend on your environment and your own situation. Red Dots are a great choice and if you want to reach out even further a Low Power Variable Optic (LPVO) is good for that.
I personally went with a red dot because they are the quickest for fast target acquisition and also allow you to focus on your target that you are shooting at.
Again this is a lot of personal preference. However, if you are looking for something that is simple and easy to use I would recommend a red dot.
Trijicon MRO
The Trijicon MRO is the best red dot all around. The price is right and the quality is outstanding.
It is a hard-anodized, forged 7075-T6 housing that is fully sealed and waterproof.
There are plenty of brightness settings and the battery life is just absolutely insane. It will run for 5 years on the medium brightness setting.
It will hold zero extremely well and has been rigorously tested and can withstand a lot of torture.
Trijicon has released the newer version of this optic and it is the Trijicon MRO HD. They have made some improvements over the original.
They even offer a Trijicon MRO HD Magnifier Combo and it is awesome.
Adding a good optic is one of the best Sig MCX upgrades you should do first.

Geissele Super Precision Mount
The mount for a red dot is also very important and I see way too many people end up getting a cheap mount for their expensive optics. Don’t be one of those people.
The Geissele Super Precision Mount is the best red dot mount for the Trijicon MRO.
(Geissele also makes this mount for the Aimpoint T2)
It is extremely robust and will keep your red dot zeroed and you will be very accurate with it.
They come in three different heights and in two different colors. This red dot mount is not a quick detach mount, but I often switch out my optics a lot and it is very easy to do.
I went with the lower 1/3 co-witness in the desert dirt color.

Other Good Red Dots
The Trijicon MRO is what I ended up going with because of the price and the wider field of view. Some other good considerations would be the Aimpoint T2, the EOTech EXPS-3, and the Sig Romeo8T.
These are also some of the best red dots available and are worth checking out.
Vortex Razor HD Gen II-E 1-6×24 Riflescope
If you decide you need some more magnification the Vortex Razor HD Gen II is what I would recommend for an LPVO.
This scope has very clear glass and works great in low light with the 30mm tube. It also has very good eye relief.
Vortex is one of the best brands when it comes to customer service. They have their VIP warranty on all of their products.

Geissele Super Precision Scope Mount
For the absolute best scope mount I recommend the Geissele Super Precision Scope Mount.
This mount was specifically designed to be used with Vortex 1-6 scopes and it is also SOPMOD certified.
This AR-15 Scope Mount is part of The Geissele SOPMOD Certified Series features Geissele products currently in use by top tier military and counter-terrorism units throughout the U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM).

Sig MCX Sights
Even with the best and most reliable optics, I am a firm believer in having a good set of back-up fixed sights or flip-up sights.
Some of the older models of the Sig MCX came with pop-up iron sights however the newer ones do not come with any. This is unfortunate but nowadays most people end up putting their own sights that they like.
For the price of this rifle, it would be nice of Sig to add a set though!
I added the Troy front and rear flip-up battle sights and they are very good. They are very durable and of good quality.
These are some of the best iron sights you can add to a rifle in my opinion.
Troy Folding Front Battle Sight
The Troy Folding Front Battle Sight is very durable because they are machined from aircraft-grade aluminum and then hard coat anodized.
They are offered in the black color or the FDE which looks really good on the rifle.

Troy Folding Rear Battle Sight
The Troy Folding Rear Battle Sight features a zero-canting attachment system for use on all military and aftermarket receivers.
No tools are required for adjustment of the Troy Rear Folding Battle Sight, each click on it equals .50 MOA of adjustment.

Sig MCX Charging Handle
The charging handle that comes stock on the Sig MCX is actually very good. It is ambidextrous and has worked flawlessly for me.
A standard AR-style charging handle will not work in this rifle and you need one that is made for it.
I don’t think this is a necessary Sig MCX Upgrade but if you really want to add the best parts to your rifle then there is one that I recommend.
Raptor-LT Charging Handle
The Raptor-LT Ambidextrous Charging Handle is specifically designed for the Sig MCX and is the best charging handle available for this rifle.
It is also ambidextrous and made out of 7075 aluminum and hard anodized.
The ergonomics are great and it doesn’t hang out too far past the upper receiver like some others I have seen.

Sig MCX Pistol Grip
Sig has their own pistol grip that comes on all of these rifles and they are pretty good and many people keep them and like them.
Personally, I always replace pistol grips and like adding what I have come to think is the best one possible.
Magpul MOE K2+
The Magpul MOE K2+ pistol grip. I add this on every AR-style rifle I own. I actually have put this specific pistol grip on my AK-47, all of my ARs, and my Sig MPX as well.
Hands down one of the most comfortable pistol grips there is. It has the perfect amount of rubbered texture to it and the palm swell feels great in the hand when firing the rifle.
It also has a small storage compartment on the bottom of the pistol grip which can be used to store small items. Batteries, gun oil, tools, etc…
They come in four different colors. Black, FDE, OD Green, and Grey. If you can’t decide on what color you want just always go with green for everything. It looks really good on the rifle.

Sig MCX handguard
Depending on what version of the Sig MCX you might want to change out the handguard for something better.
The original Gen 1 model came with a key-mod rail which is nice but personally, I prefer M-Lok.
The Sig MCX Virtus comes with an M-Lok handguard already and I was very happy that Sig Sauer did that. M-Lok is more popular and there are a lot more accessories available that are M-Lok compatible.
That being said if you decided you want to upgrade your handguard there is one very good one available that will work with both the Gen 1 and Gen 2 models.
Midwest Industries MCX M-LOK Handguard
The Midwest Industries MCX Handguard M-LOK is an improvement over the standard handrail because it comes with two rows of M-Lok on both sides of the rail instead of just one.
There is also still the single row on the bottom of the handguard where you can add any foregrips or any other accessories you want.
It is also light and durable and comes in two different lengths. The 15″ and the 12.5″
I would recommend the 12.5″ because if you ever decided you want to convert your rifle into a pistol and change barrel lengths this will be easier to do with the shorter handguard.

Sig MCX Weapon Light
Another one of the best Sig MCX upgrades you can do to your rifle is adding a good weapon light with a momentary-on switch.
Having the ability to correctly and quickly identify your target is most important in a home defense situation.
This is a very important upgrade for your rifle and I recommend this is something that should not be overlooked and added to your Sig MCX as soon as possible.
Surefire M600
The Surefire M600 is the absolute best weapon light for your Sig MCX. This is one of the most popular weapon lights out on the market and that is for good reason.
It produces 1000 lumens of light and has a very slim design being very compact and lightweight.
These weapon lights are made of hard-anodized aerospace aluminum and are reliable. They also have optically coated tempered window glass and O-rings and gasket seals.
Surefire makes this weapon light in two different colors. Black and Flat Dark Earth (FDE).

Surefire Tape Switch
I also added the Surefire Tape Switch Tail Cap to my M600. This allows me to activate the light while it is mounted on the left side of my handrail without breaking my shooting grip.
The Tail Cap also has a consent on and off button which is a really handy feature.
I personally like having the option to search or clear an area quickly by activating the weapon light and turning it off right away to help prevent me from giving away my position.
This Tail Cap allows me to do that very effectively and that is why I recommend it.

Cloud Defensive LCS Mount
I attach the tape switch pressure pad to the handguard using the Cloud Defensive LCS Mount.
This mount is extremely low profile and also has channels underneath the mount to route the cable through and help with wire management.
The Cloud Defensive LCS Mount is far superior then the Surefire mount.

Arisaka Defense Inline Scout M-LOK Mount
I use the Arisaka Inline Scout M-Lok Mount to attach the Surefire M600 to the rail of my Sig MCX.
This mount is very compact and lightweight and it keeps the light as close as it can to the handrail without touching it.
Haley Strategic also makes a mount that is very similar and it is called the Thorntail2 inline Mount. I have used this one as well and it is very good.

Sig MCX Foregrip
Some people think adding any kind of foregrip to the handguard is unnecessary but I like having one on all of my rifles.
I mainly use it as an indexing point for my off-hand and I will usually mount my weapon light pressure switch where my thumb will naturally be when holding onto the foregrip
This really all comes down to personal preference but I suggest try using it as an indexing point.
Seekins Precision K20 Angled Forward Grip
The Seekins Precision K20 Angled Forward Grip helps with recoil control and allows me to manipulate the rifle more easily.
It comes in both M-Lok compatible and Key-Mod compatible mounting options.
The slim design is nice for keeping your Sig MCX sleek and not having anything too extra protruding from it.
It also has an integrated QD sling mount and is very ergonomic and works great as an indexing point with my weapon light.

Sig MCX Sling
A good two-point sling is one of the very first upgrades you can do to your Sig MCX, and it might also be the least expensive.
Single point slings were really popular for a while but a quick adjustable two-point sling is superior in my opinion.
The nice thing about the Sig MCX is it has multiple QD sling mounts integrated throughout the rifle so you have a lot of different options when installing a sling.
Ferro Concepts Slingster
The Ferro Concepts Slingster is the primary sling that I use across all of my rifle platforms.
It is just enough padding where you want it and has a quick-adjust tab that works exactly as intended, unlike the Magpul Sling.
I use this with two QD sling swivel mounts attached at each end and this is by far one of the best slings out on the market.

The Sig MCX is becoming legendary
This rifle is innovative and reliable and is being used by special operations around the world. The ability to quickly change barrels and cailbers quickly and being able to operate without a stock or receiver extension is nice.
All of these Sig MCX upgrades will increase the performance of the platform and are of the best quality.
