One thing to know is that this binary trigger requires an M16-style bolt carrier group which is also considered full auto BCGs.
Your rifle may already have this style of BCG but if it doesn’t you will need to purchase one separately in order for this trigger to function.
Installation is a little tricky on the ECHO AR-II, and I recommend having a gunsmith install this trigger.

This type of trigger makes sense to go on 10/22 because the price of 22LR is a lot cheaper.

Installation can be difficult on some 10/22 models just because of manufacturing differences and sub-models.
Hand fitting may be required and it might be better to have a gunsmith or gun tech install this one.

This is one of the easiest triggers to install and the safety selector is very easy to use and feels nice.
The accuracy of semi-auto mode has been improved and the trigger has a nice smooth pull with a clean break for making precision shots.
In binary mode, the gun is very controllable and can be accurate even with a high rate of fire. Especially doing controlled bursts.
Having a binary trigger on a Pistol Caliber Carbine like the B&T models feels like a true submachine gun and is about the closest you can get to it.
These triggers shoot fast when you want and can be used in semi-mode when needed.
Having this ability is very versatile and a lot of fun at the range and may even come in handy one day.

So this isn’t a binary firing system, but I figured I should include it in this article. The GatCrank Turbo XL is a trigger crank that will increase the rate of fire.
Similar to the old-school Gatling guns, it is exactly that. A small trigger crank attaches inside the trigger guard with a crank that you rotate to fire quickly.
This is just a novelty, and I would never recommend it on a serious self-defense fighting rifle.
But this is America, and we are allowed to own stuff like this, and we don’t even need a good reason. A simple “because I can” works for me.

The Purpose of a Binary Trigger

The use of these tools can help improve your practice drills. A Binary trigger increases the rate of fire by shooting a round on the trigger pull and one on the release of the trigger.
The purpose is to shoot fast. This is helpful when you need to provide cover fire or just want to have fun at the range or competition shooting.
How Does A Binary Trigger Work?
A Binary trigger is attached to a semi-automatic weapon like an AR-15 and is usually a drop in trigger group configuration. These technologies dramatically improve the firing rate.
It allows firing a single bullet at once. Upon release, the trigger triggers a second shot. You can use bullets as if they were fired automatically.
Once the trigger is pulled, the sear releases the hammer. When the hammer touches the firing pin, the gun fires. The bolt resets the hammer upon firing. Trigger springs are used to accomplish this.
When the trigger pull is then released, the firing process happens again.
Are Binary Triggers Illegal?
Not yet. Binary triggers are legal, but some states, local counties, and towns have limitations.
It is your responsibility to know the local laws in your area. Federally there has been no determination on them, but if I had to guess, they would soon be on the chopping block just like bump stocks were.
Now might be the perfect time to pick up a few before it’s too late. Unfortunately, gun rights are always on the defensive.
The federal government has recently attempted to ban devices that make semi-automatic functions more comparable in functionality to fully automatic.
Earlier this year, a federal district attorney said he was considering a similar measure against the alleged manufacturer.
At the time of writing this, they are legal, but I can see the binary firing system being banned in the future, unfortunately.
Binary Trigger vs Bump Stock
Bump stocks utilize a technique called bump firing. All a bump fire device does is aid in this technique.
Bump firing is not accurate or very controllable, or consistent. You are essentially letting the recoil of firing help you slap the trigger.
Also, bump stocks have now been banned. Using a binary trigger is a much better way of shooting fast. Shots are more controllable and accurate, and you can select from semi-automatic or binary modes.
Having a good binary trigger is the superior way to shoot fast if you want to.
Binary Trigger vs Full Auto
A Binary trigger is not a fully automatic trigger. A binary trigger fires a single round on the pull and then one on the release.
Full auto keeps firing while the trigger is held down. Full auto firearms also known as machine guns are strictly regulated by the federal government; owning one is impossible for most citizens.
Also, even if you can legally own one in your state, the entire process is a huge headache.
Just not worth it currently, in my opinion. Maybe one day, the laws will change, full autos will become a more viable option, and you will be able to own a machine gun more easily and legally.
That’s the great thing about a binary trigger system, though. You get close to full auto without the headache.
Again, always make sure you know and follow your specific local laws.
Forced Reset Triggers
A forced reset trigger does exactly what it sounds like, forcing the trigger to reset.
So when you pull the trigger, there is an extra spring (compared to traditional AR triggers) that pushes your trigger forward, back to the ‘start’ position, allowing you to fire your subsequent shots much quicker.
The federal government currently considers these illegal, so do not purchase one of the forced reset triggers.
Forced reset triggers have gotten some people in major trouble recently, so I suggest avoiding these.

Yes, they have a high firing rate and are worth it at the range. A binary trigger system is as close to full auto as possible.

I like FosTech … easy to install … well made … reliable always.
Also, it IS possible to fire quicker with (at least) the FosTech Echo-II vs full-auto. The problems
though are two-fold:
1-It’s purely up to your co-ordination and muscle
endurance
2-Generally your AR/AK barrel (& gun) is not made to handle the heat. You can ruin your gun
if you don’t give it a rest to cool a bit.
I have both the Fostech and the Franklin Armory triggers, in 2 different AR-15s. The Fostech was a pain in the butt to install. I like the function of flat trigger on the Franklin Armory better than the Fostech. I also spent about $100 less for the Franklin Armory trigger.
Oh yeah, I should also mention that I had to get and install a spring from a third party to get the pull weight down to 4lbs on the Fostech trigger.
