What is a B&T APC9?
The B&T APC9 was designed and engineered to meet the military and law enforcement standards. It is the semi-automatic variant of the APC submachine gun.
The APC stands for “Advanced Police Carbine.” It uses a 9×19 mm Parabellum caliber with 15, 20, 25, and 30 rounds. It is larger than a personal defense weapon but smaller than an M16 rifle. An excellent mid-sized balanced platform.
The company now makes a civilian version that has recently become very popular and similar to the Sig MPX and the CZ Scorpion.

B&T APC9 Trigger
Upgrading the stock factory trigger is the first place to start. It isn’t a lousy trigger, but it can be significantly improved.
I recommend a binary trigger for the sub-gun. If you have never used one, you should give it a try.
Franklin Armory BFSIII B&T-C1 Trigger
The Franklin Armory BFSIII for B&T is a 3-Position Trigger. In position 3, it will fire 1 round on Pull and 1 round on Release.
This makes it the fastest semi-automatic trigger on the market. The BFSIII is ideal for Tactical and Competition use.
The BFSIII provides significantly reduced split times between rounds and the ability to place two separate shots into a tighter group.
This trigger is the best because you can fire fast if you want but don’t have to blow through ammo when you don’t want to. Also, anti-gunners don’t like binary triggers, and getting them now before a possible ban in the future is a good idea.
- Release round can be canceled by simply moving the selector out of Binary mode while holding the trigger back
- Easy to install Smooth trigger pull: 4.5 lbs, +/- 0.5 lbs
- Positive reset on release phase
- Enhanced buffer springs for optimal flexibility
- Great for competition shooters, tactical shooters, and recreational enthusiasts
- Position 1 Safe Will not fire
- Position 2 Semi Fires 1 round per pull
- Position 3 Binary Fires 1 round on pull and 1 round on release

B&T APC9 Optics
Adding a good quality optic is next on the list for upgrades and accessories. There are huge benefits of using a red dot.
Speed and accuracy are the main two, but being able to focus on the threat and not the front sight is better for situational awareness.
I recommend a few different red dots for a platform like the APC9. They all work great and are similarly priced, and it comes down to what features you want, size and weight, and personal preference.
The best red dots for the B&T APC9 are:
- Trijicon MRO HD
- EOTech EXPS
- Aimpoint T2
Trijicon MRO HD
The Trijicon MRO HD is a reflex-style, sealed sight intended for use on rifles, carbines, and shotguns to provide fast target acquisition.
It is designed to be used with both eyes open, providing the operator with maximum situational awareness.
The large aperture and tapered light path maximize the viewing area in a small optic, allowing for fast target engagement, especially from non-standard shooting positions.
It also features ambidextrous brightness controls, sub-flush adjusters, advanced lens coatings, and a fully sealed, waterproof, hard anodized forged 7075-T6 housing, making the MRO the ultimate mini reflex sight.
The MRO HD is optimized for use with a magnifier, with a re-engineered objective lens to produce a refined 2.0 MOA center dot surrounded by a 68 MOA segmented circle reticle.
The ambidextrous reticle and brightness control allows users to choose between a full reticle or a center dot.
This optic can also be used with a magnifier to extend the range. The Trijicon MRO HD & Magnifier is a 3x increase and a flip mount design.

EOTech EXPS3
Surely you have heard of EOTech by now, and if you haven’t, you’ve been living under a rock.
The EOTech EXPS3 is the shortest, lightest holographic weapon sight on the market today. It allows for an elevated level of precision in short to medium-range tactical environments like never before.
These red dot sights deliver two-eyes open shooting ability plus a 7mm raised base for iron sight access.
The EXPS-3 features easily adjustable side buttons with a single, quick-release throw lever to quickly attach or remove the sight.
The EOTech EXPS 3 Waterproof Holographic Red Dot requires 2 3/4 inches of rail space at most, thanks to a shortened base.
The waterproof and fog proof design will withstand harsh environments and perform in any tactical environment and with the average battery life being between 500 to 600 hours.
They also make a magnifier for this optic, which works exceptionally well. It is a 3x magnifier, and you save some money when buying the combo. The EOTech EXPS3 & Magnifier is a proven system that works perfectly as intended.

Aimpoint T2
Designed to be the ideal sight for tactical applications, the Aimpoint Micro T-2 is one of the best optics for any firearm, especially the APC9.
It is lightweight, extremely reliable, and has insanely long battery life.
The sight housing of these red dots has advanced lens coatings that radically improve the shape and clarity of the 2MOA red dot.
Physical protection has been added around the adjustment turrets and internal changes to protect the electronic components of the Aimpoint T2 Micro Red Dot Weapon Sight.
The sealed tube design of this Aimpoint red dot means that snow, rain, dust, mud, or sand will not hinder the use of your sight or ever get in between you and your target.
The optic can be mounted quickly and has a very clear and crisp dot in the center. Perfect for making accurate shots rapidly.
This sight is compatible with all generations of night vision devices.

B&T APC9 Stock Upgrade
Adding a stock to a pistol requires some extra knowledge. Unfortunately, there are a lot of hoops you must jump through to add a stock.
This will reclassify the firearm as a short barrel rifle (SBR). Some states do not allow civilians to own these, and the states that do allow it require a tax stamp and other extra rules you must follow.
All I can say is that it is your responsibility to know and understand all of your federal and local laws regarding SBRs. You don’t want to break any laws by mistake.
For this reason, many people decide just to add an arm brace, but again stay up to date on the law because it is constantly changing.
F5 MFG Modular Stock System
The F5 MFG Modular Stock System is the best stock upgrade and accessory for the APC9. It’s proportional in terms of parts and not too big for the weapon, and it’s a firm/rigid assembly with zero slack.
The quality is above average, the components are well made, and a solid setup.
There are plenty of adjustments to change the length of pull and get a comfortable cheek well.
It can be folded quickly and easily and allow the firearm to be stored in a small area.
- B&T Apc9 Compatible Adapter
- 6061 AL and Nylon 6/6 Polymer Construction
- Integrated Locking Hinge
- Adjustable Cheekwell
- 7 Adjustable Length Positions
- 3in Length of Pull

B&T APC9 M4 Light
There are many good options when it comes to adding a weapon light. I have used all of them, and for a small sub gun like the APC9, I like a single unit with everything all in one.
Without a lot of rail space, especially if you run night vision or plan to, you need to keep everything compact.
Cloud Defensive OWL
The best weapon light for the B&T APC9 is the Cloud Defensive OWL weapon light. It is a one-piece light setup with the mount and pressure pad built-in.
Because of the limited rail space on this firearm, the OWL is the best light option. The ergonomics are superb, and it is an excellent complete package.
It has an output of 1250 lumens and 55000 candela that will run for about 85-110 minutes on a fresh battery.
The OWL is fully ambidextrous and is mounted on any 1913-style Picatinny rail.
This weapon light is waterproof and fully submersible with an IPX8 rating (200 ft for 24hrs). It is also shockproof and dustproof.

B&T APC9 Foregrip
Having a good foregrip on any firearm is a great accessory to help control the weapon and the comfort while shooting.
There are a few options when adding a foregrip. A vertical foregrip and an angled foregrip. There are also hand stops as well.
Again with knowing the laws, having a vertical foregrip on a pistol turns it into an SBR. So know the laws before adding one. Or, if you don’t want to worry about any of this, just use a hand stop or an angled foregrip.
They do not convert the firearm to an SBR but always check first because the rules and laws constantly change.
A3 Tactical Modular Vertical Foregrip
The best vertical foregrip for the APC9 is the A3 Tactical Modular Vertical Foregrip. I especially like this one because it has the hand stop built into it.
It is made of aluminum and has a great feel, and it is also lightweight and very strong.
This is the perfect foregrip for any gun with limited rail space, and it is also comfortable while gripping it.

A3 Tactical Angled Foregrip
If you decided on going with an angled foregrip, then the A3 Tactical Angled Foregrip is the best option.
This foregrip was designed explicitly for the APC9-K because of its compact and limited rail space.
It works just as intended and is comfortable and lightweight.
Also, it looks very streamlined when mounted under the barrel and won’t get snagged up on anything.

B&T APC9 Sling
Another accessory and upgrade that you need to make your APC9 complete is a good sling setup.
I recommend a modular sling for smaller, more compact firearms with a single-point sling or a two-point sling.
Magpul MS3 Gen 2 Sling
The Magpul MS3 Gen 2 Sling is the best modular sling setup for more compact firearms. It gives you both carry styles in one setup and is the best of both worlds.
It is durable and can quickly change configurations from a two-point to a single point, and it can be tightened or loosened on the fly.
The clips are strong and also have a locking feature.

B&T APC9 Ammo & Magazines
Finally, you will need extra ammo and magazines, which are considered necessary. Ammo prices constantly fluctuate, but I recommend always keep buying more and maintaining a good stockpile.
No one knows where the prices of ammo will go, and it probably will continue to rise in the next few years by the looks of things.

I always recommend having a full combat loadout of mags as far as magazines, and this is normally one in the gun and six extras.

Overall, the APC9 is quite pleasant and fun to shoot. The ergonomics of the platform aren’t quite as streamlined as the AR-15 or the Sig Sauer MPX, but they are still very user-friendly. People familiar with the AR platform should have no problems transitioning over.
