Reticle
I really like the reticle system on the 507C. It actually allows you to switch between 3 different reticles.
Hold the “-” button for 3 seconds and you can choose between the 2 MOA single dot, the 32 MOA Circle, or a combination of them both.
This is the same as you would normally see on EOTech holographic weapon sights.
The smaller red dot reticle is better for precision shots and the circle reticle is better for speed.
I found that I like the combination reticle the best and it’s what I shot most with it.
Use the combination reticle for speed and accuracy for the best of both worlds.
The brightness worked well and I had no issues seeing or picking up the reticle.
Bonus: On the low setting, the Holosun 507C will also work with night vision.
Size
The Holosun 507C is a micro red dot and is very small. If you are new to these, will you truly be amazed when you are holding one in your hand.
Being so small is when these are becoming so popular on pistols.
The adjustments are easy but very small so keep that in mind.
The window size is perfect. It’s not too small and I can pick up the reticle very quickly.
When aiming your pistol it feels natural and the optic draws your eye in.
Fitting in holsters was possible, but you may want a custom-made holster to accommodate the red dot.
This isn’t the smallest red dot on the market but I found it was perfect.
Construction
This optic can take a beating. The housing is made of 7075 aluminum and the curve adds to the strength.
The glass is scratch-resistant and is slightly magnified so not a true 1x.
In my testing, this was a non-issue though.
The Holosun 507C is very well-built.
The glass is scratch-resistant and the housing is made to protect the glass. The LED emitter is exposed to the elements technically but semi-protected.
The battery storage compartment closes up tight with no movement or play and is water-tight.
Overall you are getting a very well-made and constructed red dot that will last a long time.
Battery & Solar Panel
This comes with a side battery compartment. This is great and means you do not have to remove the red dot and lose your zero just to change the batter.
The Holosun 507C has shake awake technology and an “auto-off” function.
This works great for not wasting battery and also for not having to worry about turning the red dot on with a button.
Replacing the battery is simple with the right tools and Holosun includes the Allen Key in the box.
The solar panel helps charge the battery and extend the battery life.
It will act as an emergency backup power source when your battery dies.
It’s also got a solar panel that can detect ambient brightness and adjust your reticle brightness to match the normal setting.
I like everything about this battery system and solar panel. One of my favorite features.
User Friendly
The mounting system is versatile. This optic uses the Shield RMS footprint allowing you to mount this to many popular pistols.
When drawing your gun in a self-defense situation, you most likely will not have time to turn on your red dot. This is where the “shake-awake” function is priceless.
Replacing the battery is simple and quick as I mentioned earlier.
The buttons are small but still accessible and easy to use with good feedback when pressing them.
This optic is intuitive and simple to use. For anyone looking for a red dot on a self-defense pistol, simple and reliable is critical.
For the price, you get everything you would expect.

Final Thoughts
The Holosun 507C is one of my favorite red dot sights for pistols. It’s reliable and very well made for a reasonable price.
If you are looking to get a micro red dot sight for the first time the Holosun 507C is a great choice.
Holosun over-delivers with the 507C and it’s well worth the price. I highly recommend this red dot.
