This is a full review of the Sig Sauer Romeo8T optic and it will cover absolutely everything you need to know.
If you are thinking about purchasing one of these optics for your rifle this will help you decide whether it is a good choice for you.
The quick answer is that the Romeo8T is definitely worth the money and overall an excellent optic and a great choice.
WHAT IS THE SIG ROMEO8T?
The Sig Romeo8T is a new red dot sight released by Sig Sauer. It is a direct competitor to EOTech and Aimpoint.
It offers some new features that make it more desirable.
Pricing is very similar and it is a great alternative.
Romeo8T OVERALL DESIGN
Sig’s Romeo8T is powered by a single CR123 battery. The battery cap has an O-ring to protect the compartment.
The battery cap is also in a horizontal layout to prevent the battery contacts from having a bad connection during the felt recoil of firing your rifle.
There are two lens covers that are built-in and flip-up (front) and flip-down (rear) on the optic. This is a nice little feature included that many companies do not do.
There is a protective shield that covers the Romeo8T and will prevent the sight from being damaged with heavy use.
This optic offers a very wide field of view and is great for anyone with bad eyes or astigmatism.

Romeo8T operation
All of the controls for the optic are on the left side of the optic and have two buttons. Up arrow and down arrow.
Either of the buttons will turn the optic on. To turn off, hold any button down for 3 seconds.
If you leave this optic idle for 2 minutes the optic will turn off. When motion is detected it will turn back on. Great for conserving battery.
Romeo8T RETICLE AND ILLUMINATION
There are 13 brightness settings. 10 daylight and 3 night vision.
(check out my article on the PVS-14 if you are interested in getting into a beginner night vision setup)
The Sig Romeo8T has 4 different reticle options which is a great feature. This allows you to choose which one for your personal setup and they can also be switched.
This was one of my favorite things I noticed while doing the Sig Romeo8T review.

What comes with the Romeo8T
In the box you get the optic, a mounting tool, kill flash/glare protector, and a single battery for the Sig Romeo8T.
Everything you need to get this sight mounted up is included in the box.
Owners manual is also included.
MOUNTING THE Romeo8T
It uses a single clamp-style mounting system with a single hex nut screw to tighten onto any Picatinny rail. This is a solid setup and the optic will hold zero.
There are also 2 indexing points under the mount to help hold zero and prevent the Romeo8T from shifting while firing your rifle.
Mounting this red dot is simple and easy, no issues were found while doing this Sig Romeo8T review.

ZEROING THE Romeo8T
There are two adjustment screws that you will use to zero your Romeo8T. The windage and elevation adjustments are both in 0.5 MOA increments.
You can use the battery cap or a flat head screwdriver to make the adjustments.
Nothing tricky to do while zeroing the Romeo8T, same as zeroing any other red dot.

THE BIGGEST DOWNSIDE OF THE Romeo8T
Really the only downside is its limited service life. This is a newer optic that does not have the long track record as some of the alternatives.
Besides that, there was really nothing else negative to report when reviewing the Sig Romeo8T.
Sig has really been stepping up their game, especially with their line of optics, and time will tell if the Romeo8T is a true military-grade optic.
With their new contracts for their scope with the U.S. Army, Sig Sauer optics will only get better.
FINAL CONSIDERATIONS
This is an excellent optic, providing a very wide field of view, multiple options on reticles with great performance.
Very clear glass, lots of options for brightness, and easy to see reticle in all lighting conditions.
Unique design that looks different from most other red dots in the same class. For this Sig Romeo8T review, I was very impressed.

The Romeo 8T doesn’t list its overall length on Sig’s website. For such a large optic, knowing its length helps to plan for rail space when using a magnifier. Also the optic’s window is square but lists a “38mm diameter” (1.5”). Wanted to know length and width (size) of window to compare to EOTech and others. I like the circle – dot reticle and robust build. The unlimited eye relief helps a lot. No green option.
